it broke my heart today to find out that this child was not to be found alive.
i grew up in and around orange county.
i lived for several years in fullerton.
I can remember when I was a kid, playing in our yard, and all around the neighborhood. In the summer, we used to play Hide and Seek until well after dark. We can't do things like that anymore. When my children wanted to play in the front yard, I went out with them to keep an eye on them. Why do things like this happen so often now? I know the Witnesses say it's because The End Is Near ( TM ), but I don't know.
I do think there has to be a special place in Hell for someone like this.
i've noticed many new ones to our lil community here and have been unable to welcome you all personally.
there is a great variety of people here and loads of information and support.

Thanks for the welcome and a big HOWDY to y'all too! I know when I first started to look at these sites, I felt extremely nervous and somewhat ashamed. I just knew I would be found out and DF'd before I even got home. It's nice to be somewhere though where I'm not going to be judged and condemned just for having a different viewpoint. Personally, I don't care if the talk veers off into sex, sarcasm, etc. Nothing says I have to read it. A bit like the TV, isn't it? If I don't like it, I can change the channel. I guess that's why they have chocolate and vanilla.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. It is not right, nor is it fair. Fourteen years ago I fought a similar fight. I told my elders about my incestuous family. Nothing happened. For 4 years I argued, harangued, wrote letters and practically screamed from the platform, all to no avail. Finally the circuit overseer told me if I said one more word I would be disfellowshipped. So I left and haven't been back. After reading so many stores on Silent Lambs and elsewhere, I found out that what I went through is not even on the radar screen compared to the abuse others suffered. This madness must stop.
Hebrews 11 talks about people of faith and how they encountered opposition for their beliefs. At some point in each of their lives, each of these people had to make a choice to either stand up for what is right, or cower to others. You are such a person of faith. By standing up now, in this way, you are showing your allegiance to God, and not to a man-made organisation. You have shown yourself to be a link in the chain to righting a tremendous wrong. The God I was taught about is aware of your troubles and I have to believe that he will take care of you.

Hey Wild Turkey! Gotta tell you, this is the first season I'm looking forward too since the 90's. I'm still not sold on Quincy Carter, I'm really interested in seeing Chad Hutchinson, but I think the defense will be outstanding. If everything falls right, we might be looking at 8 or 9 wins.

This is the best news I've heard in some time. I hope this can snowball in the UK into a full-blown investigation. I've long thought the only real solution to this problem is either a number of lawsuits (like the Catholic church here in the U.S.) thus hitting the WTBS in the pocketbook or for a governmental agency to get involved. It shows the power of well researched journalism, exposing a serious and dangerous problem.

So is the price of this motel room 30 pieces of silver? Will they want her to bring a credit card as security for the room? Well what can you expect from people like this? To keep dragging this poor woman on and on is cruel. They're going to refuse her appeal, if it were me I would refuse and be done with it. I wouldn't want to dignify this charade any further. I can't help but wonder how men like this can look themselves in the mirror. They must have amazing powers of self-justification to keep from laying awake at night.

It is a good article. Perhaps I'm being cynical, but I cannot help but wonder how much of a difference negative publicity will make. It seems to me the more shows and articles like this, the more the GB will scream Persecution ( TM ) to flock in the hinterlands. Kind of like David Koresh and the ATF, it becomes a self-fulfulling prophecy. It seems as if the only way for real change to take place is to hit them in the pocketbook. The Catholic Church began to make real changes only after a plethora of lawsuits, hundreds of millions of dollars in judgments, and all the negative publicity surrounding each case. As cheap as WTS is, I don't think it will take that much before a "New Light" ( TM ) comes out. In the meantime, sadly, people will continue to be hurt.

So the elders are now priests? Good grief! I noticed a couple of things that really bothered me.
1) "Godly arrangement". Not GOD's arrangement. Subtle but important difference.
2) Notice how when there was a dispute between Moses Aaron and Miriam, the WT points out that God selects the one who he wants to use. I haven't noticed any burning bush pointing toward Brooklyn. Or was that on Dateline? I suppose part of the "royal priesthood" imperfections is the "loving" attitude they show toward rape victims when they threaten them, bully them into not reporting the abuse to the police.
